Parallels Plesk AntiVirus by Dr.Web
Plesk AntiVirus by Dr.Web is an award winning (Virus Bulletin 100% Award) virus scanning and filtering software which is completely integrated with Plesk 7 Reloaded and Plesk 7 for Windows; and can be used with other control panels. Plesk AntiVirus provides reliable and efficient protection of your customer’s mailboxes against worms, Trojans, and other viruses.
Selected capabilities of Plesk AntiVirus by Dr.Web include:
High Reliability
100% Virus Detection as verified independent tests by Virus Bulletin. Plesk AntiVirus’s sophisticated virus analyzer engine detects not just the known viruses in its database (currently containing over 100,000 viruses!) but also provides detection of yet unknown viruses and modifications to existing ones.
Designed for Hosting
Plesk AntiVirus by Dr.Web was created through joint collaboration between Parallels, leader in hosting automation, and Dr.Web, expert in AntiVirus solutions. Plesk AntiVirus by Dr.Web is fully integrated with Plesk 7 Reloaded and Plesk 7 for Windows with 15 mailboxes included for free. At the same time it can also be used with other control panel solutions such as Cpanel or Ensim, or on standalone Linux or FreeBSD systems.
Always up-to date
The response time to new viruses is critical for AntiVirus solution. Today’s viruses emerge extremely fast and within hours user mailboxes can be overwhelmed with infected messages. Plesk AntiVirus provides round the clock protection with multiple updates per hour during the times of an outbreak. A monitoring center staffed 24x7 constantly monitors new viruses that appear “in the wild” and responds with updates to the virus definition database.
Cost Effective
While all other commercial AntiVirus solutions are priced per mailbox, Parallels is pleased to provide per server licensing model with unlimited mailboxes per server. This licensing model makes Plesk AntiVirus 10 to 100 times less expensive per mailbox than any other commercial AntiVirus software. Hosting Providers can offer value-added virus protection services for a very low fee or just include virus protection in their current offering.
Fast Performance
Plesk AntiVirus by Dr. Web is designed to handle massive volumes of emails without increasing server loads or delays in delivering emails. The performance of an AntiVirus solution is especially critical in the hosting environment where each server might carry thousands of mailboxes with dozens (or hundreds) of thousands of messages daily. Plesk AntiVirus by Dr.Web successfully meets the demands of this high-load environment and scans all of the incoming mail traffic including attachments for viruses and other malicious code.
Sophisticated Virus Analyzer Engine
Plesk Anti-Virus by Dr.Web features sophisticated heuristic virus-analyzer engine. The analyzer detects yet unknown viruses or unknown modifications to the existing ones that are not defined in the virus database.
Small Update Footprint
The typical update to the virus database does not exceed a few kilobytes allowing quick downloads of updates even during the time of an outbreak when the connections and servers might be overloaded.
Trivia
Dr.Web is the final result of over 15 years of AntiVirus development. The first predecessor of Dr.Web, MS DOS-based Aidstest, was originally released in 1988 and was able to detect just a few viruses. Differently from modern Dr.Web, Aidstest did not have a heuristic analyzer engine and relied exclusively on the signatures in its database to detect viruses thus could not detect unknown or polymorphic viruses (quite a lot of AV software is still signature-based). Aidstest is still around and in fact can detect around 1,700 MS DOS viruses (compare it with 100,000+ MS Windows viruses floating around that can be detected by Dr.Web)
Note: Plesk AntiVirus by Dr.Web is an add-on to Plesk 7 Reloaded.
