Sophisticated Virus Analyzer Engine
Plesk Anti-Virus by Dr.Web features sophisticated heuristic virus-analyzer engine. The analyzer detects yet unknown viruses or unknown modifications to the existing ones that are not defined in the virus database.
Small Update Footprint
The typical update to the virus database does not exceed a few kilobytes allowing quick downloads of updates even during the time of an outbreak when the connections and servers might be overloaded.
Trivia
Dr.Web is the final result of over 15 years of AntiVirus development. The first predecessor of Dr.Web, MS DOS-based Aidstest, was originally released in 1988 and was able to detect just a few viruses. Differently from modern Dr.Web, Aidstest did not have a heuristic analyzer engine and relied exclusively on the signatures in its database to detect viruses thus could not detect unknown or polymorphic viruses (quite a lot of AV software is still signature-based). Aidstest is still around and in fact can detect around 1,700 MS DOS viruses (compare it with 100,000+ MS Windows viruses floating around that can be detected by Dr.Web)
